Sarah Emma Edmonds was one of the most famous spies for the Union army during the Civil War. She posed as a soldier, a slave, an Irish peddler woman, and a Kentucky gentleman to name a few. She risked discovery, illness, injury and death to secure valuable information. Kathy Kraus of Then & Now portrays her in various disguises based on a book, Behind Enemy Lines, and memoirs from the National Archives.
